MIUI 12 is the next iteration of the brand’s operating system (OS) based on Android. It was announced back in April for several Xiaomi phones and now the company has shared a rough schedule for its release in India. In the first wave, as per the company, the Mi 10, Redmi Note 9, Redmi Note 9 Pro, Redmi Note 8, Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 7, and Redmi Note 7 Pro will be receiving the update starting this month. Meanwhile, Xiaomi budget devices such as the Redmi Note 8 Pro, Note 7 Pro, Note 7/7S are still testing the update.
MIUI 12 brings a new UI experience with reworked system-wide animations and visualisations. It also introduces an App Drawer that sorts apps by categories. Dark Mode has also been improved system-wide, covering system apps as well as third-party apps. It also adjusts screen brightness automatically according to ambient light. There is an ultra-battery saver mode that is said to extend the phone’s standby time and reduce power consumption.
However, there is one Xiaomi device that needs no MIUI 12 beta testing, as the MIUI 12 update is available on the device out-of-the-box. The latest MIUI version will be up and ruining on the device as soon as you get your hands on it. I am talking about Redmi 9A, which Xiaomi announced last month, along with Redmi 9 and Redmi 9C on the global market.
Redmi 9A features a 6.53″ HD+ display with a waterdrop notch. It is powered by Mediatek Helio G25 chipset and has a whopping 5000mAh battery. It has a single 13MP AI rear camera and a 5MP selfie camera. The device has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. The model was priced in Malaysia at RM359 (Rs. 6,301).
The specifications are average, but they are justifiable for the price. Rumours are that Redmi 9A will soon arrive in the Indian markets. Looking at the price, Redmi 9A is undoubtedly the first and cheapest phone to feature MIUI 12. This also bolsters the fact that Xiaomi has no problems in delivering the MIUI 12 to affordable devices.
